
The Hunter Regional Band Association is a Branch of the Band Association of New South Wales. It is a non-profit Association that has both Brass Bands and Concert Band as its members. Most of the Bands are Community Bands, but several School Bands are also members of the Association. The Committee is elected from registered delegates of member bands. There are seventeen member bands in a region from Muswellbrook to Newcastle and Lake Macquarie to Woy Woy.

Staging Annual
Competitions for Brass and Concert Bands
The competitions are:
Formal: Bands compete in their allocated Grades (A, B, C, D), presenting
a Hymn and an Own Choice number for adjudication.
Entertainment: Bands
compete in Two Divisions - Division 1 for A and B Grade Bands and
Division 2 for C and D Grade Bands. Each band presents a short concert,
designed to entertain an audience.
Staging Annual Soloist
and Ensemble Competitions
These competitions are designed for individual
Musicians, Duets and small Ensembles (4 to 8 musicians) to compete
in age divisions and instrument categories.
Staging an Annual Marching Competition held in conjunction with the Mattara Festival Parade.
Arranging
non-competitive Band Events for the community entertainment, free
of charge, such as:
Bands In The Park, an annual event held in King
Edward Park in which up to twelve bands present a concert program
throughout the day.
Providing Courses of Instruction relevant to the needs of Bands, such as Drum Majors Courses.
Securing Engagements for Bands when the opportunity arises.
